Actually they didn't send him into the past. This is actually the future. Everyone had their memories wiped by the final boss who wanted to rule the world. Yuuki is broken by it because his body and soul was damaged beyond repair. Those that fought alongside him in his original guild died and were recreated by Ameth and the other girl.
Yuuki is basically a walking corpse at this point, only to serve a purpose. Also Karyl confesses her love for him.

But isn't Karyl's current master the same person who wanted to rule the world? (at least by the looks of it, and if this is in the future, that would make sense)
And why do we see her standing by the body of I am not entirely sure who, but related to Yuuki? I thought she was like Ameth or something of the sort, pretty much like in another realm.
Furthermore, why is she obsessed with Pecorine this much, trying to get her forgotten, depressed and whatnot?
I need some explanation 'cause I think I am a bit lost in the plot right now.

Yeah in the game. The guy is basically Touma but reverted to a child. Everyone before was a sarcastic guy with a personality, after is a good boy who punches/stabs ppl. Otherwise, the guy is pretty unimportant since Yuuki takes a back seat if story isn't relevant.

Also, in the OG priconne things were a lot more horny. Christina which is shown to be a bit of a sadistic battle junkie, was a horny onee-san in the original.

In this Episode, there is a scene represent yuuki's fight against Kaiser insight, yet he is gravely injured there, so Labrysta (that women in red) give him a choice, either reset or continue to fight despite the odds. In this timeline, yuuki choose to reset so he meet kokoro and pecorine once more.
If you are talking about this overall anime, this is the future timeline where the original party are wiped (not pecorine, kyarl, kokoro) because they aren't strong enough against the last boss / kaiser insight and the second season is continuing those story from the first season
I suggest you also google Princess Connect to get more picture about the previous timeline/game before this anime

The protagonist along with his comrades fought the final boss, while fighting, Yuuki obtained Lethal injury while trying to protect Pecorin, Ameth then transferred his body to her side before he could die, queen Labyrinth managed to heal him and prevent his death. Yuuki was then given two choices: The first choice was to protect the current connection (ongoing time line); the second choice was to head down and keep on fighting and try to win the unwinnable battle against the final boss.

If he choose the second choice then he will have to fight and try to win the battle with the high chance of him dying again and permanently this time. (Game timeline)

If he choose first choice, which he chooses in this current timeline that is the Anime timeline, the whole world will reset and he will go back to the time when he first encounter Kokkoro while losing all his memories and all the bonds which he has created till now with everyone.

Part of the mystery with this adaptation is it's based on 2nd iteration of original medium with flashbacks of 1st iteration (similar to Ousama Game), although the flashbacks here are less gratuitous than in Ousama Game.

Yuuka Aisaka was the originally the Ames VA (in the game as well), I think she replaced by Rieri in the last season because she went hiatus.

It's been bothering me, so I decided to look it up, and found out that Kaiser (Karyl's master and the one who teleported Pecorine) is actually voiced by a male VA. Kind of an interesting choice...I feel like someone like Megumi Ogata would've fit the role just as well.
